School Field Trips by Appointment
Museum curators offer students learning experiences in both the Schoolhouse and Pioneer Museums. History comes alive when students re-envision and engage with it.
Length: 30, 45, or 60 minutes for each museum, considering grade level
Availability: September to June on Thursdays and Fridays.
Cost: $5/student
The Schoolhouse Museum is fully wheelchair accessible. The Pioneer Museum is partially accessible.
Schoolhouse Museum Visit
Appropriate grade level planned lesson. Dip pen and ink cursive writing exercise, button spinning, artifact hunt, and interpretation of museum displays.
Pioneer Museum Tour
Includes the Rocky Point Stagecoach; historical artifacts from a pioneer kitchen, home, and parlour; early photographs; farm and logging implements.
Half of the class will experience what a school day was like for students attending the one-room school between 1872 and 1914 at the Schoolhouse Museum. The other half of the class will tour the Pioneer Museum and see historical artifacts from early times.
The groups may have a snack and/or lunch, washroom break, and then visit the other museum.
